Our prisons are
crowded with nonviolent, minor offenders while corporate “white
collar” criminals go unpunished.
We should abolish “three strike” laws and give judges the power to
award appropriate sentences. Violent, incorrigible offenders should be
removed from society but nonviolent, minor drug offenders released from
incarceration.
Guns should be removed from the hands of criminals and the right of
hunters and home owners to own and possess guns protected.
The death penalty should be reviewed and the innocent protected by DNA
testing where possible.
The laws against corporate and “white collar” crime must be
tightened. Corporate criminals who steal from the public and employees
must be prosecuted. This would include a prohibition against the
issuance of stock options and making lawyers, accountants, brokers and
others who assist in corporate crime, equally guilty.
